Rejoice! (Romans 5:1-11)
After sending out the group into the chilly London night at the conclusion of last night’s Romans study, texts came in thick and fast saying what a “great” “superb” study it was, how people saw things about God they hadn’t realised before and could really rejoice in their current reconciliation with him, and certain hope of future glory because God has already done the harder thing and reconciled us to himself.
(The language in Romans 5:1-11 does really ramp it up (“not only that”, “much more”, “much more”), piling incredible benefit over out-of-this-world privilege.)
Unfortunately, this implies that due to the incompetence of their leaders, this group’d understood nothing before this – alas us! It’s all very humbling to realise that while we try our best to teach God’s word faithfully and clearly, putting in at least 8-10 hours prep per study, it is ultimately God who gives us both faithfulness and clarity, and our hearers understanding and discernment, in his own time.
Of course, the words in red at the bottom of this sheet might suggest otherwise!
