Colosseum The Board Game
We were commenting on the irony of playing Roman impresarios in Colosseum (designed by Wolfgang Kramer and Markus Lübke, published by Days of Wonder) on Holy Saturday, as some call the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. At least Christians weren’t (ostensibly) part of the entertainment. Having Roman numerals on the dice was a nice touch.
A decent enough resource-management game with a bit of luck thrown in to keep things lively. Simple enough for a quickie, but didn’t really engage me. I suspect it may appeal to Monopoly fans. We were sustained till the wee hours by Prima Taste laksa (coupled with left over boiled eggs) and Henderson’s Convival Yorkshire Crisps.
