Goodbye PageOne Bookshop, VivocityOn the last day, there were no crowds (though there were three happy boys and a rather full borrowed trolley).

With the closure of Borders at Wheelock Place in 2011 and Page One at Vivocity last evening, it was difficult to decide whether to mourn the death of reading (but perhaps people read e-books?), the dearth of good meeting points within shopping areas, the passing of bricks-and-mortar bookstores that serve as launchpads for discovering new worlds (but there is the internet?), or the curious phenomenon that is nostalgia; or perhaps not to mourn at all – plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
