Ringing In The New Year With Smokes and Malt
Far from the hydroxyl group-fuelled, Marina Bay fireworks-carousing crowd, accompanied by easy whiskies and smooth smokes, we spoke about the highlights of our 2011s and resolutions (if any) for 2012 and shook hands as GMT+8 moved into 2012. Nothing magical about a change of years in the man-instituted Gregorian calendar, but still a good opportunity to assess the preceding period and to remember the widows, the fatherless and the aliens during this time of celebration.
As the sun rose, greetings beamed in from the rest of the world as their timezones too entered the new year. No one knows what this next year will bring or even if we will live to see it to its conclusion. But we are confident in this: that he who began a good work in us will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6)
