Rugby World Cup Finals 2011: New Zealand vs Francenothing much happened after this…

The finals of Rugby World Cup 2011. What a show. Who would have thought the Gallic Roosters had anything on the Kiwis? Both the All Blacks and Les Bleus played good rugby which was a pleasure to watch (read Scott Murray’s minute-by-minute account for The Guardian).

Thought Man of the Match would have gone to François Trinh-Duc, the French fly-half of Vietnamese origin, who for reasons unknown was left out of the starting line-up and was wearing a No. 21 jersey. His obvious intelligence and teamwork made him a natural No. 10…though he did Weepu a kick that might have given France the Webb Ellis Cup. Still, Thierry Dusautoir’s bull-dozing tactics did little to gain real estate but he got lucky enough to break through once for his side’s only try.
